The dinner was great! The party was fun, fun, fun!!! Oh, so, memorable! Now, it's time to go home...
As I'm waiting for my ride home, I look at the text messages I received during the party. While thinking of disturbing my sleeping friends, a man came to me. He stabbed me and took the phone out of my hands. I can't believe it. This is how I'm going to die...? Then, he stabbed me for just one more time.

I dunno the date nor time.

Someone's approaching. A man. Who is he? I'm dead, right? Where am I? Is this. . . Heaven?
"Are you entering?"
"What?" And I realized I can talk.
"Are you entering?" He repeated.
"I dunno. Are you?" And I realized I can feel. "Where should I enter, anyway?"
"It's your own choice." He smiled.
"Aren't you going to decide from a record of my deeds or something?" I ask such awkward stuff. I think I might have blushed.
"There's nothing to be embarrassed about." I did blushed, didn't I? "It's your own choice."
Man, he's a man of small words, or something like that. "Can I go back?"
"Go back where?" He looked really puzzled.
"I dunno..."
"Didn't you want it to happen this way? You did try it by yourself, didn't you?" I think he means suicide.
"This is different. I was stabbed, right? It wasn't me who stabbed myself." Holy
crap! I think I've said too much.
"Why go back?"
"What?"
"Why do you want to go back? Where you go might be a little bit more peaceful."
"I can't go there. Wherever "there" is. I have a lot of things to do. I didn't even met my Nakatsu, yet. I didn't make it to the DL! I can't die. Not now."
"It's your own choice," he said for the third time.
"Then, I want to go back."

When I was writing this, on the same day, 3:00 pm, the man who stabbed me just came to my mind. I dunno if it's because of Death Note and Detective Conan which I am reading, of Blood+ which I am watching, that made my mind do it. That's all.*>

I. Introduction
“Flukes” to Fame
Eraserheads, also called Eheads, is a band that gave birth to a new style in Filipino Music. Their music tell tales of their life: the hard work you have to go through, the happiness in success, the sorrow in failure. Their music ranges form pop to rock, reggae to ballad, and everything in-between. Because of this band, other musicians became, such as Parokya ni Edgar and Rivermaya, that speak of an average Filipino’s mind.
The band took their name from the title of a movie by David Lynch that they read while flipping through the pages of a magazine. They never really knew anything about the film. When they saw the movie years later, they found out that it had a dark and confusing theme. They are really thankful that it didn’t become a bad omen. The Eraserheads have gone from being the losers to being the biggest thing ever to happen to the Original Philippine Music history.
During the year of 1989, two college bands in the University of the Philippines, Diliman, were both busy looking for new members. The four college kids only used second-hand instrument in playing. Their first goal was just to form a band that would catch attention from girls in the campus. Curfew, which consisted of Buddy Zabala on bass and Marcus Adoro on guitars, met up with Sunday School, which consisted of Ely Buendia on vocals and Raimund Marasigan on drums, in December of the same year. The young musicians agreed to form one band – Eraserheads. 1 2



II. Body
Eraserheads: A Major Success
The band usually played at small gigs inside the campus. Usually their band plays last, when the crowd is almost gone. They played covers by The Cure, Sex Pistols, and The Beatles. Eraserheads had little but loyal fan based in the campus. In December of the 1989, they had their first ever gig at a variety show called “Peace Lang Ha!”. 1
After sometime, the band figured that they are not good at covering songs, so they started writing their own songs. They soon played their original songs on their gigs. “Pare Ko”, which has cuss words, was most famous inside the campus. Their songs easily spread inside and outside the campus. 2
It was in January of 1991 when the band recorded a “garage jam” for demo in Marasigan’s house. They shopped this demo around to various radio stations, clubs & record labels, but were told that it’s “not pop enough”. In March of the same year, the first "official demo" and/or "unofficial album", "Pop-U!" was recorded & mixed on a 4-track recorder by Mr. Robin Rivera, a Humanities professor, at the Faculty Studio, UP Faculty Center, UP Diliman, Q.C. By April, “Pop-U!” is released. Limited copies of about 20 cassette tapes were made and given to a handful of their fans and friends. 1
They performed mainly inside the campus, in DZUP, the college radio station; and in the UP fair. Raimund Marasigan was a student DJ at the radio station. 1 While the band is performing at various fairs, and clubs, their demo album found a way to reach BMG Records (Pilipinas) a year from when it was made. 2 By July 1992, the band started recording for "Ultraelectromagneticpop!". The same album finished being recorded by April of 1993, and was released on the month of July of the same year. 1
Eraserheads got their first award at NU Rock Awards for “Album of the Year” of 1994. They had their first concert for “Ultraelectromagneticpop!” in UST Auditorium, University of Santo Tomas, Manila on February 5, 1994. 1 Their first major concert entitled “Eraserheads Jamboree” was held at Folks Art Theatre, Manila on December 3 of 1994. 1 Eraserheads truly rose from a college band into the biggest Pinoy Rock Band. 2
After their debut album, they made a new album describing their “roller-coaster ride” life, “Circus”, by October of 1994. 1 With this album, not only have they proved themselves as good songwriters and musicians, they have also opened a whole new world for music lovers and enthusiasts. 2 In this album, they used a horizontally inverted e which became the trademark of Eraserheads.
The band had their first movie, “Run Barbi Run”, with Joey de Leon. The movie was out by July of 1995. They wrote the theme song for the movie entitled “Run Barbi Run” and another song called “Policewoman”. They won a “Guillermo Award” for “Most Favorite Band” for the year 1995. During the month of August of the same year, senate assistant majority leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto called for a ban in airplay and sales of some songs that were interpreted to promoting drug-abuse. 1 One of the songs was Eraserheads’ “Alapaap” that was said to be “ode to drug-abuse”. 4 The band cleared their name after writing to Sotto himself. They played “Alapaap” later that year in the NU Rock Awards, where they won "Listener's Choice Award", "Band of the Year" and "Album of the Year" for Circus. The fun never stops when they released their third album “Cutterpillow” on December of 1994. 1
For the 9th Awit Award, they won Album of the Year” for “Cutterpillow” for the year of 1996. They opened for the MTV Alternative Nation Tour's "3 in 1 Rock Concert" featuring: Beastie Boys, Sonic Youth and Foo Fighters at Araneta Coliseum, Quezon City. The Eheads did four songs off the album, "Cutterpillow". Rapper, FrancisM joined in during "Superproxy". By February of 1996, they had two concerts at different colleges here in the Philippines. Their 2nd major concert was held the next month, March 9 at “Folks Art Theatre” with the title “Electric Fun”. The sold-out show featured guest appearances by the Apo Hiking Society, FrancisM and Medwin Marfil of Truefaith. For the next few months they had continues gigs all around the Philippines. On November of 1996, they released “Fruitcake”. They released a Christmas album “Fruitcake” was released on December. 1
At the 3rd Katha Music Awards, year 1997, they won "Best Rock Vocal Performance" for “Fruitcake” and "Best Album Packaging" also for “Fruitcake”. At the 10th Awit Awards, they won "Best Alternative Recording" for their album “Fruitcake”. They won the 1997 Guillermo Memorial Award for "Most Popular Group/Singer/Entertainer".They won the 1997 Parangal Ng Bayan Award for "Best Group Performer Award". Eraserheads released a storybook, “Fruitcake”, on March of 1997. On the 16th of March, they performed at "BMG Night - Sentosa Pop Music Festival" in Singapore, their first gig overseas. Their first U.S. tour was on summer of 1997. Right after they came back to the Philippines, they released their Album “Bananatype” on June of the same year. The Eraserheads won the 1997 MTV Asian Viewers Choice award with their video for "Ang Huling El Bimbo", making them the first ever Philippine band/artist to win such prestigious award. The Eheads taped their "moonman" acceptance speech a day before the actual awards night at the Radio City Music Hall, New York, NY. On September 11, their album “Sticker Happy” is released. They had a promo tour for the album on October. They performed "Everything They Say" at the 1997 NU Rock Awards. They won "Artist of the Year"; "Listener's Choice Award"; "Producer of the Year" to Robin Rivera for "Fruitcake"; "Best Album Packaging" for “Fruitcake” and "Best Video" for “Fruitcake”. 1
At the 1998 Awit Awards, they won "Album of the Year" for “Sticker Happy”. They went for a tour in Tokyo, Japan on February. At April 29th, they went to San Francisco, California for “The Sticker Happy Parade!: USA - Spring 1998”. They drove to Oakland, California for a concert at Calvin Simmons Auditorium, HJKCC on the 2nd of May. They then went to Los Angeles. They had their concert at John A. Sexson Auditorium, Pasadena on the 9th. At May 16th they had a concert at Murry Bergtram Hall, New York, New York. They had a promo showcase at CBGB Lounge, New York the following day. After the U.S. Tour, they went to Hong Kong for a concert on July of 1998. The Sequel of the U.S. tour came fast. "The Sticker Happy Parade!: USA - Summer 1998". They had a concert at Chicago, Illinois on August 1. On the 5th, they performed at "Lokalpinoysila98", The Loft, Pasadena, California. On the 7th, they did a show at Holiday Inn Music Hall, National City, California. By the month of September, the compilation album, "Aloha Milkyway" is released in Southeast Asia.
The "Aloha Milkyway" promo tour of Singapore took 4 days to Finish. During the time, they did in-store performances and shows. On September 29, 1998, Eraserheads magazine “Pillbox 2” is released, with the retail price of 98 php. On October they were featured on MTV Asia's "Hot Seat"; appearances on "MTV Land", "Most Wanted", "Videography" & "In Control" were broadcast. The band performed at San Miguel’s “Octoberfest”. In the same month, their album “Aloha Milkyway” was released here in the Philippines. On November, During the NU Rock Awards, despite of many nominations, the Eraserheads did not show up. They had to do recordings that day. It is the first time that they did not receive any awards. At the14th of December, the band had a book-signing at National Bookstore, Glorietta, 4pm for "Fruitcake". 1
For the year of 1999, the band had a lot of gigs, radio and TV performances and shows. In April 20, the "all-Tagalog" album, "Natin99" is released. On April 25th, the Eraserheads had their first trip to Australia. They had a concert, "Eraserheads Live! Down Under", at Fairfield Showground, Sydney, Australia. In October the "Eraserheads & FrancisM - Live in Concert!” at Hyatt Regency Golf Park, Dubai, United Arab Emirates is the first show the band had in the Middle East. By November, they performed "Andalusian Dog" at the 1999 NU Rock Awards. Raimund won "Drummer of the Year". 1
At the 2000 Awit Awards, they won "Best Performance by a Group/Duo" (Pop Machine). Just like the year before, 2000 is a year full of gigs, TV and radio performances, shows, and adoring fans. In January 16, 2000, they performed at the "Sinulog Festival" in Cebu City, Cebu. "The Pop Machine Tour - USA2000" started at May 18 and ended at July 11. On May 19 they had a concert at Colden Center for the Performing Arts, CUNY - Queens College, Flushing, New York. Their concert at North Shore Center for the Performing Arts, Skokie, Illinois was on the 27th. Their concert at Cactus Club, San Jose, California was on June 2. On June 6th, Raimund leaves for Manila due to "emergency" reasons. The next day, the band had the one and only rehearsal with fill-in drummers, Mario (AcidRain) and Haro (Happy Box), at A-Live Studio, Santa Fe Springs, California. On June 10 they had their concert at Scottish Rites Center, San Diego, California. On September 15th they performed at "Oktoberfest", Glorietta, Ayala Center, Makati. 1
On March 10, 2001, The Album “Carbon Stereoxide”, in cassette tapes, was released. The version in compact disks was released on March 15, 2001. They had in-store performances and autograph signings on the following days after the album was released. 1 This year was the last year for the Eraserheads to perform with the original members. The year has been full of gigs and guess performances.
Drummer Marcus Adoro released his single album, “KamonKamon Ver. 2” on February 8, 2002. On March 17, the gig at Robinson’s Galleria was the last gig of Ely Buendia with the whole band. For weeks, they used fill-in vocal singers. The debut of Eheads’ new singer, Kris Gorra-Dancel was on April 19, 2002. While the “new” Eraserheads are performing, Ely Buendia also performs alone at various gigs. 1

III. Conclusion
It’s Not the End
After conquering the local scene, the Eraserheads’ success leaked out of the Philippines reaching Singapore, Japan, and the U.S. They had tours and concerts that showed the world our music, our tradition, our talents.
From the second album and the first award, Eraserheads continued to release nine other albums, receive 31 other awards, perform at countless gigs and concerts, create more adoring fans, and change the world of Filipino music.
The band suddenly broke-up after 13 years of success. Ely Buendia left the band for “unknown” reasons. Just a few months after Buendia left, the three remaining Eraserheads members made a debut of their new lead singer, Kris Gorra-Dancel.
The individual original members’ success continues until now. They are still helping in the improvement of Philippines’ music. Their music is still alive in our hearts reminding us that in patience, you can achieve anything.

On October they were featured on MTV Asia's "Hot Seat"; appearances on "MTV Land", "Most Wanted", "Videography" & "In Control" were broadcast. The band performed at San Miguel’s “Octoberfest”. In the same month, their album “Aloha Milkyway” was released here in the Philippines. On November, During the NU Rock Awards, despite of many nominations, the Eraserheads did not show up. They had to do recordings that day. It is the first time that they did not receive any awards. At the14th of December, the band had a book-signing at National Bookstore, Glorietta, 4pm for "Fruitcake". 1
For the year of 1999, the band had a lot of gigs, radio and TV performances and shows. In April 20, the "all-Tagalog" album, "Natin99" is released. On April 25th, the Eraserheads had their first trip to Australia. They had a concert, "Eraserheads Live! Down Under", at Fairfield Showground, Sydney, Australia. In October the "Eraserheads & FrancisM - Live in Concert!” at Hyatt Regency Golf Park, Dubai, United Arab Emirates is the first show the band had in the Middle East. By November, they performed "Andalusian Dog" at the 1999 NU Rock Awards. Raimund won "Drummer of the Year". 1
At the 2000 Awit Awards, they won "Best Performance by a Group/Duo" (Pop Machine). Just like the year before, 2000 is a year full of gigs, TV and radio performances, shows, and adoring fans. In January 16, 2000, they performed at the "Sinulog Festival" in Cebu City, Cebu. "The Pop Machine Tour - USA2000" started at May 18 and ended at July 11. On May 19 they had a concert at Colden Center for the Performing Arts, CUNY - Queens College, Flushing, New York. Their concert at North Shore Center for the Performing Arts, Skokie, Illinois was on the 27th. Their concert at Cactus Club, San Jose, California was on June 2. On June 6th, Raimund leaves for Manila due to "emergency" reasons. The next day, the band had the one and only rehearsal with fill-in drummers, Mario (AcidRain) and Haro (Happy Box), at A-Live Studio, Santa Fe Springs, California. On June 10 they had their concert at Scottish Rites Center, San Diego, California. On September 15th they performed at "Oktoberfest", Glorietta, Ayala Center, Makati. 1
On March 10, 2001, The Album “Carbon Stereoxide”, in cassette tapes, was released. The version in compact disks was released on March 15, 2001. They had in-store performances and autograph signings on the following days after the album was released. 1 This year was the last year for the Eraserheads to perform with the original members. The year has been full of gigs and guess performances.
Drummer Marcus Adoro released his single album, “KamonKamon Ver. 2” on February 8, 2002. On March 17, the gig at Robinson’s Galleria was the last gig of Ely Buendia with the whole band. For weeks, they used fill-in vocal singers. The debut of Eheads’ new singer, Kris Gorra-Dancel was on April 19, 2002. While the “new” Eraserheads are performing, Ely Buendia also performs alone at various gigs. 1

III. Conclusion
It’s Not the End
After conquering the local scene, the Eraserheads’ success leaked out of the Philippines reaching Singapore, Japan, and the U.S. They had tours and concerts that showed the world our music, our tradition, our talents.
From the second album and the first award, Eraserheads continued to release nine other albums, receive 31 other awards, perform at countless gigs and concerts, create more adoring fans, and change the world of Filipino music.
The band suddenly broke-up after 13 years of success. Ely Buendia left the band for “unknown” reasons. Just a few months after Buendia left, the three remaining Eraserheads members made a debut of their new lead singer, Kris Gorra-Dancel.
The individual original members’ success continues until now. They are still helping in the improvement of Philippines’ music. Their music is still alive in our hearts reminding us that in patience, you can achieve anything.
